West Sayville Boat Basin is the home to Molloy College’s Center for Environmental Research and Coastal Oceans Monitoring (CERCOM), a 2700 square foot dedicated marine science laboratory. Their mission is to provide environmental monitoring and analysis by providing baseline data necessary to implement ecosystem-­based management. They provide recommendations for the long term health of estuarine environments on Long Island and across the globe. Some current research projects include:

• Captive breeding programs for horseshoe crab
• Effects of ocean acidification on the horseshoe crab
• Estuarine water quality for ecological sustainability
