Brooklyn Daily Eagle - Jan 25th 1897 p.4  MR. BOURNES PURCHASE - Jacob Ockers parts with a piece of property for $20,000 that cost him $2,300.Sayville L. I., January 25th - An important real estate transaction too place last Saturday between Fredrick T. Bourne and Jacob Ockers, the former purchasing the property on which is located Mr. Ockers immense oyster houses on the banks of the Great South Bay.  The property, which covers about 30 acres of ground, is situated next to Mr. Bourne's stock farm, and covers a distance of about one mile along the shore front.  For some years Mr. Bourne has been very anxious to aquire posession of the property which he has just purchased, and he is the sole owner of the immense tract of land known as the Cove which covers nearly one thousand acres.  Six years ago Mr. Bourne built a very large barn on the property for breeding purposes, but as Mr Ockers had the right of way for carting oysters through a road which ran right through his property, Mr. Bourne met with many drawbacks by the roads being cut up by the heavy oyster wagons.  Mr. Ockers Purchased the property a few years ago for $2,300, and as the price paid to him by Mr. Bourne was $20,000 the transaction was put down as a remarkably profitable one.
